Team McCarville Among Canada's Best

Team McCarville had a great run at the Scotties. Team McCarville (Krista McCarville, Tara George, Ashley Miharija, Kari MacLean) faced off against Kathy O'Rourke's surprising PEI rink in the semi-finals of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sault Ste. Marie. O'Rourke moved on to the final versus the Team Canada Jennifer Jones rink. Jones won the game and their third-straight title .
 
Along the way, Team McCarville defeated former world champion Kelly Scott of B.C. in the 3 vs. 4 page play-off game by a score of 6 to 4 (9 ends). It was an excellent game with Team McCarville shooting 82% highlighted by an impressive 88% from Krista herself.  Earlier, Team McCarville had downed Manitoba's Jill Thurston in a tiebreaker. 
  
FWCC's Krista McCarville Team finished the round robin with a record of 7-4 and in a tie with BC and Manitoba. The PEI reps fininshed the round-robin in top spot followed by Team Canada in second. 
 
Notes...2,737 people were in attendance for Saturday's 3 vs. 4 page play-off at the Essar Centre...FWCC Ice Technician Brent Adamson is working at the Scotties...Fifth player Sarah Lang saw action vs. Manitoba Wednesday morning playing the final 3 ends in place of Kari MacLean. Sarah shot an impressive 88%...during the round- robin, Team Ontario was tied for third in team shooting percentage...Krista finished 3rd among skips with an average of 75%... Ashley Miharija was in fourth place among seconds at 76%... Kari was the runner-up to Saskatchewan's Amber Holland in the event's Ford Hot Shots competition.
 
At the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts held at PACC, Krista McCarville, Tara George, Ashley Miharija and Kari MacLean defeated Sudbury's Tracy Horgan rink in the championship game on January 10 to earn the right to represent Ontario for the fourth time. The round-robin wrapped up with the McCarville rink on top with a perfect 9-0 record. Team McCarville has now won the Ontario crown four times in the last five years and Krista has been in the Ontario championship game the last 6 years!
